# Choose a social publishing tool for your AI agent

Canonical URL: https://sosoapi.ai/docs/choose-social-publishing-workflow

Compare the platforms, post formats, setup and pricing you need for your agent’s publishing tasks. SosoAPI uses one MCP connection for your social accounts, scheduling and publishing results.

## SosoAPI, Buffer, Outstand or Zernio for your coding agent?

Use the same task to compare all four services: draft a product announcement with your agent, schedule it to an account you use, and check the published result. All four document agent access, so look beyond whether they offer MCP.

This comparison is based on official documentation reviewed on 22 October 2026. We have not independently tested onboarding speed, reliability or content quality. Try the client, account and post format you intend to use.

Documented options for an agent-driven product announcement

| Provider | Worth evaluating when | Agent path and checks |

| --- | --- | --- |

| SosoAPI | You build with Claude Code or Codex and want to prepare, schedule and track supported posts with that agent. Solo builders can start with three free accounts. | Local MCP or compatible hosted OAuth. Choose Workspace and publishing access; read the same Scheduled Post through its final outcome. No LinkedIn, TikTok or DMs; X is original text/links only. |

| Buffer | You want to operate a Buffer publishing workspace from your agent, including its drafts, queue and post analytics. | Hosted MCP, usually with OAuth. Its documented tools read channels, schedule/edit posts and return allowed actions. Check the exact channel, plan and content type. |

| Outstand | You are building an agent or product that needs a wider range of publishing destinations through one API. | Documents MCP and usage-based publishing across 12 networks. Managed keys cover eight; X, Google Business Profile, Vimeo and Reddit require your own platform app. Check setup, supported actions and usage charges. |

| Zernio | Your agent needs a broader documented API surface, including publishing, inbox, ads or analytics. | Hosted MCP with OAuth or an API key. Documents draft and scheduled posts plus revocable agent keys. Check the exact endpoint, account eligibility and pricing; broad API access does not prove every platform supports every action. |

## The short answer: choose by the work you need to finish

Choose MCP if you want to work through a compatible agent. You still create a SosoAPI account, connect your social accounts and choose the agent’s access. The app and REST API use those same accounts and schedules.

Workspace, local MCP, hosted MCP or REST API

| Your situation | Start here | Check before choosing |

| --- | --- | --- |

| I want to review and publish without configuring an agent. | Use the SosoAPI workspace directly. | Create and verify your account, connect a supported social account, then review content and timing. |

| I already work in Claude Code or Codex. | Use local MCP and the public setup recipe. | Node.js 20+; browser sign-in; select allowed Workspaces and actions. Publishing access lets your agent schedule; draft/read access keeps submission in the workspace. |

| I use a compatible browser-based MCP client. | Use hosted MCP with OAuth and automatic client registration. | Client plan and custom-connector availability vary. Complete the client’s trust steps and SosoAPI consent yourself, then verify an authorized tool call. |

| I am building a publishing action into my own product. | Use the server-side REST API walkthrough. | Keep API keys on the server. Resolve authorized Workspace and account IDs; never infer them. |

## SosoAPI or direct platform APIs?

Use a platform’s API directly if you need a feature SosoAPI does not support or want to build and maintain the integration yourself. Use SosoAPI if its supported formats fit your task and you want account access, media preparation, scheduling and publishing results in one service. Both options still require provider consent and must respect platform limits.

Check the linked platform documentation and SosoAPI’s capability matrix against your account and post format. This comparison does not estimate engineering time saved or compare delivery success rates.

What you own with a managed publishing contract or direct integration

| Decision | SosoAPI | Direct platform integration |

| --- | --- | --- |

| Formats and provider features | Use the published capability matrix. Unsupported fields or networks remain unsupported. | Implement the current native API yourself; availability still depends on provider access, account and review. |

| Accounts and authorization | Human connects accounts; your client uses scoped Workspace IDs and grants. You still own customer authorization in your product. | You build the provider-specific connection, token storage/refresh and account-selection flow. |

| Media and scheduling | Use registered ready assets and one Scheduled Post per destination. SosoAPI runs the accepted schedule. | You build the supported upload/container flow and your own scheduling lifecycle where needed. |

| Retries and completion | Keep post ID, idempotency key and expected_version. Read terminal outcomes; never blindly resubmit an uncertain write. | You design deduplication, recovery and provider-status readback for each integration. |

| Cost and control | Account-based SosoAPI fees and separate X credits; check pending capacity and history limits. | Provider pricing/quotas plus your own infrastructure, review and maintenance costs. No universal cheaper option. |

## How to compare another publishing provider fairly

Start with the features you cannot do without. A service that lists your platform may still lack the post format, comments, analytics or customer onboarding you need. SosoAPI workspaces separate account access, but they are not a ready-made embedded onboarding system for your customers.

- Write down the destination, post format, account type and action you need, then check each provider against that task.

- Compare costs for the same number of connected accounts and team members. Include media limits, pending schedules, history and provider-specific credits; distinguish trials and introductory prices from ongoing costs.

- Check request schemas, permissions and duplicate-request handling. Look for a platform-confirmed published result, rather than a screenshot showing a queued request.

- Try the setup with the client and social account you will actually use. A demo or MCP logo cannot tell you whether that combination works for a new user.

## Check the destination before comparing tools

SosoAPI supports Instagram professional accounts, Facebook Pages, Threads, YouTube and X. Check the capability matrix for the formats, actions and permissions required for your account.

- X supports original text and links only, with separate credits. X media, replies, quotes, reposts and thread publishing are outside this scope.

- Instagram Stories require an eligible Business account. Facebook publishing uses Pages, not personal profiles.

- A successful YouTube upload is not automatically a Short. Check the video and destination requirements.

## When SosoAPI is not the right choice

Choose a service that supports the work you need to finish. Check the following before choosing SosoAPI:

- If you require LinkedIn or TikTok publishing, direct messages, or X media and threads, those are not in the current supported publishing scope.

- You use your own agent to draft content and review its work. SosoAPI does not generate all your content for you.

- Browser consent grants ongoing access within the scope you select. It does not add an enforced approval screen for every agent post. Submit posts yourself in the app if you want to keep that step with a person.

- A saved schedule still depends on provider permissions, processing and limits. It cannot guarantee that the platform will publish the post.

## Compare account and usage units, not just the headline price

Free includes 3 connected social accounts. Additional accounts cost US$3/month each, capped at US$19/month for up to 20 accounts. Both plans include unlimited team members and no monthly publishing quantity cap on Instagram, Facebook, Threads and YouTube; X has separate credits.

A Facebook Page and an Instagram account count as two connected accounts. Pending schedule capacity, history windows and provider limits are separate. Check the pricing page and the final total in the app before buying.

## Try one reviewed post and verify its result

Try one post on one supported account. Confirm the workspace, destination, content, ready media, local time and timezone. Setup publishes nothing. After scheduling, follow the same Scheduled Post until the platform confirms the result.

## What the public evidence proves

See how we use SosoAPI for Fluffy, our own pet-video brand. The case study links to published posts and a replay of the preparation steps. It is our own use case, rather than a customer testimonial or a study of new-user success rates. The separate API walkthrough uses examples and sends no requests from the page.
